Course Details
This 2 week long course - Anatomy of Yoga Immersion is designed for all yoga enthusiasts. This course allowes the students to deepen their spiritual knowledge with intense daily practice of asanas, pranayama, and bandhas.
This course emphasizes the in-depth study of anatomy as understood both by modern discoveries and ancient Yogic traditions, with insights into how the wisdom of Yoga intuited some of the cutting edge science of today. Study of this deep-rooted connection of anatomy with the Yogic practices of Asana, Pranayama, Bandha, and Kriya allows yoga teachers to deepen their Hatha Yoga Sadhana (spiritual practice). The approach to teaching in this intensive program is personal, focusing on the individual student.
Curriculum
Anatomy of Yoga :Gain a deeper understanding of how the human body grows, adapts, survives and thrives.
Discover how Yoga, long ago, thoroughly intuited the dynamic state of equilibrium called homeostasis and its role in the optimal functioning of the human being. Yoga evolved subtle techniques still used today to enhance our health and happiness.
Often in modern yoga practice the emphasis is on the muscular-skeletal system. However, yoga practice was originally much more focused on the nervous and respiratory systems. The yogis developed methods using breath to balance and fine tune the body’s responses to stressors leading to increased well-being and stronger resistance to, as well as quicker recovery from, disease. The various asanas mainly enabled and enhanced breath control. Balancing the right and left hemispheres of the brain was of paramount importance. We will investigate these systems of the body, as well as the endocrine and immune systems and learn how yogic principles work as verified by modern science.
We will learn about Heart Rate Variability, how it is an accurate and easy way to measure the health of the autonomic nervous system and how pranayama and bandhas tone the vagus nerve which in turn leads to a stronger and healthier organism.
We will delve deeper into the locomotor systems with an understanding of how connective tissue develops, how it can be maintained via yoga asanas and the importance of keeping it fluid throughout one’s life.
The in-depth study of the Anatomy of Yoga will be via extensive practical classes and analytical study using projected clear 3D illustrations of the human body, allowing us an inner view from any angle. Seen in this way, many complex functions become easily understood.
Satsang: Satsang consists of silent meditation, chanting and a talk and arati ceremony. It will help you develop a strong and steady meditation practice.
Yoga and Vedanta Philosophy : Study of these philosophical points of view brings clarity to one’s purpose in life.
Yoga Asanas: Progress in your yoga asana practice (advanced variations and prolonged holding of the postures), increase your concentration
Pranayama: One hour of practice each morning including advanced pranayama and bandhas.
Karma Yoga and Bhakti Yoga: Inner attitudes of selfless service; the nine modes of Bhakti as a means for transforming emotions into love and devotion.
