Pre-Requisites / Course Eligibility

This Yoga Sutras based retreat is open to all levels of Yoga or Vedanta aspirants who wish to deepen their knowledge and application of some of the teachings. Participants do not need to be yoga teachers.

Course Details

Topic: "Yoga Sutras of Patanjali - understanding and working with them"

Immerse yourself in the basics of Yoga during this one week residential course to be held in the pristine setting of our ashram in the hills of Amboli in India, with comfortable rooms and healthy sattvic food and hatha yoga practice. This program is particularly congenial for this journey towards self-discovery.

"The "Yoga sutras of Patanjali" is the classic text unfolding the principles and methods of yoga practice and yoga philosophy. In this course we will have both an authentic overview of the original yoga sutra text from a traditional teacher of Yoga philosophy. We also delve into the details of working with those yoga sutra principles to enrich our daily lives with all its challenges and choices general and deepen our meditation practice."

There will also be regular practice of Hatha Yoga (Asanas and Pranayamas) apart from the lectures, as per the following daily schedule. There will also guided meditations based on the teachings during the course.

• Attendance at all activities is mandatory.
Changes in the program may occur from time to time as per the prevailing conditions.

Assessment and Certification

A certificate of attendance will be offered to the participants. There is no any kind of examination for this course. Participation in all classes is mandatory.

Presenters

Sri. Raghav Kumar - The main teacher of the course will be Sri Raghav Kumar. Swami Govindananda and other ashram staff members will be assisting to give all other classes and facilities to the participants.

Sri. Raghav Kumar Sri. Raghav Kumar comes from a family lineage steeped in the Vedic tradition – a background which has guided him & shaped his spiritual pursuits. After a degree in electronics engineering and a stint in the corporate sector as an IT professional, he felt drawn to a full-time pursuit of meditation and also charitable service activities to underprivileged sections of Indian society through the Ramakrishna Mission.

In 2001, Raghav first traveled the Himalayas, to Uttarkashi & Rishikesh, where he studied Sanskrit, Vedanta and Yoga Philosophy under the guidance of Swami Dayananda Saraswati and also other respected spiritual teachers. Since 2011, he has been dividing his time between Uttarkashi in the Himalayas, Thiruvannamalai in Southern India near the ashram of Sri Ramana Maharshi, and teaching Yoga philosophy, Bhagavad Gita and other Vedanta texts.

Once the filled up application form is received and accepted the applicants will be informed by email, of how to proceed further in the registration process. To finish the formality of registration, applicants need to send an initial course deposit also.

Please note:

Course donations are non-refundable, however any unused amount may be transferred, minus an administration fee, to another course within one year of the original course starting date. Or a credit note may be issued minus the administration fee. Credit notes are valid for one year from date of issue and can be used for any other courses/ programs or for anybody recommended by the depositor and also for boutique items or any other supplementary services.

General Information

Please read course details as well as the course location information carefully before making a decision to register. Admission to any course is on first come first serve basis.
All the courses are taught in English, there is currently no translation facility available into any other language.
